Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Myopia is a common eye condition that is usually detected at a routine eye exam during the school-aged years. Having a myopic prescription means that you have difficulty focusing on targets in the distance but may be able to see near targets more clearly. The shape of a myopic eye is one that focuses an image incorrectly to the center of the eye instead of focusing the image to the back of retina. With the use of glasses or contacts, most nearsighted patients are able to achieve clear vision. The degree of myopia a patient has will determine if the patient needs to wear full time or part time correction.
