Cataract Surgery

Cataracts are a natural part of the aging process and most of us develop them by 70 years of age. Cataracts are a cloudiness that develops in the normally clear lens of the eye. This cloudiness usually worsens until it scatters or blocks light entering the eye. A person with cataracts cannot see clearly and colors may appear dim and faded. Each year 15 million people undergo cataract surgery. It is one of the most common and successful procedures performed in the world. However, treatment is highly dependent on surgeon skill, volume and experience. Dr. Jennifer Lee currently teaches cataract surgery to residents at the University of Washington and does cataract surgery on private patients through this office. She has over 15 years of cataract surgery experience, and performs surgery multiple days a week. She is certified to perform the newest technique of cataract removal which is laser cataract surgery as well as ultrasound cataract surgery which is the standard technique. She removes most cataracts without any injections or shots around the eye. Only eye drops are needed when removing cataracts. She also uses the no stitch technique so no sutures need to be removed after cataract surgery. Please read the PDF form below for more information.
